Condition: damage to lacquer finish; whatever was held in the right hand is missing

Condition: Browned but Good, a crack on plow easily repairable with wood glue.

Title and Description (typed by artist and pasted on): "This is the Tree of Science of the Good and the Evil. The Devil as a rattle snake or serpent. The Angel of God. Our first parents, Adam and Eve, and the Death. The angel is expelling Adam and Eve from Paradize or Eden, because of their disobedience. Because of this they will have to die. The Death is waiting for them."

Condition: broken arm can be repaired with glue, other repairs necessary (mostly the leaves and apples need to be glued back into tree and holes redrilled where had been broken off)

Materials: painted wood
AfroAmerican Artist (signed on the bottom): Edwin Jeffery, Jr. (b. 1949, Memphis, Tennessee)
Note: Though he is considered to be an "emerging" artist, Edwin Jeffery has been carving for 35 years. His images are derived from Biblical and contemporary cultural sources, and he often works with exotic woods like African mahogany. His work is in the permanent collection of the Brooks Museum.
